1993 marked the beginning of an era that would forever change combat sports. It’s the year the Gracie Family introduced the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Royce Gracie, a legendary Brazilian JiuJitsu Fighter, proved his skill in the infamous Octagon. He has shown the world a small guy can dominate any size opponent using BJJ. This all happened nearly 20 years ago, and the UFC seems to be at the beginning of a wave experts say could rival the NFL in the next 7-8 years. You read that right.
Alongside the UFC is TapOut Clothing Line. TapOut became the staple apparel associated with the UFC. As the wave has grown, voids began to appear among fans looking for the apparel that doesn’t scream “Mainstream!” or “I’m still in my 20′s!” There’s a major group of consumers from 18-43 who want top drawer gear–Not what everyone else is wearing, and not available at Wal-Mart. Dom Fight Gear was born for that demographic.
The company concept was first analyzed and researched–with Focus Groups and a solid Business Plan. Once we found the demographic existed and really wanted the best gis, shirts, bags, shades, supplements, hoods, etc., we set out to make them. We have done it. It has not been easy finding the best manufacturers, and the guys who can make it right and deliver it on time–that was a big challenge. BIG–and I suppose that will always be a challenge–A couple of things bombed, but that was usually because the manufacturer took a short-cut that wasn’t immediately obvious. It’s why every single Dom product is rigorously tested before it’s allowed onto the market. What we have here is one of a kind and very special. It’s being scooped up by a certain breed of people and by a horde of pro fighters. We aim to make it the best clothing company in the world, a Gazelle for those business minds out there, and hope to take you with us.
