So we got up in the fight gear business and by God’s Grace managed to get enough market share to grow up.  It has been an amazing ride, and it only seems to be picking up speed.  It was scary to think about SKU’s (Having a full line of products) and production and distribution.  Pretty overwhelming to guys who never launched this kind of business. All we knew for sure was we really wanted to do this, and that we were going to give it 110% and pray God blessed Dom Fightgear.  

When you get into a business like this, you have to have 3 things.  Without all 3, you, my friend, are screwed.  You have to have a cool factor.  With all the money in the world behind you, if you don’t have a cool product, you will not sell anything.  Sounds easy, but look how many start-ups are dead within a year or two.  Cool is essential.

You have to have a guy like Bryan who wants to keep the prices down so everyone can afford your gear.  I always set the margins as high as I thought the market would bear, and Bryan came along, all offended, and insisted we lower our prices so everyone could wear Dom.  Thank GOD he did that.

You have to have real quality.  Not all brands are quality centered, but most are–and if the quality isn’t there, people will know immediately and they won’t tell their friends and they won’t buy again.

We had all 3.  Look at new brands and see if they have a cool vibe.  Cool name and cool designs.  We differentiated our company by not selling skulls, sex, tribal, and guns.  Our look is not complicated, it lets the person wearing it out shine the shirt.  More like an accent to YOU.  Instead of an overwhelming art vomit (sorry) it’s cool and reserved–like our people.  Our fans.  More cool than reserved, but you get the picture.

Our quality is the best.  Really.  Our shirts are crazy soft.  Our Gis, according to our customers, are SICK.  Our Gear Bags are super strength and have extra strong zippers.  We made a new belt that is very similar to the War Belt, only way less expensive–exact same quality and cooler because it’s DOM.  Just wait until you see the new Torsion Hoodies and the DMX 5 Gi.  They are the coolest we have made to date and I can’t wait for you guys to see them.
