Bellator 56 Heavyweight Tournament Semi-finalists both got a little luck on their side

Some call it luck and some call it destiny. Whatever it is you choose to call it, in the end I think we can all call it “meant to be”.  Thiago has had a crazy run with Bellator since signing with the promotion back in April 2011. His first fight was supposed to be against Derrick Lewis. If he was to win that fight it would have secured his spot in Bellator season 5 Heavyweight Tournament. Unfortunatly, Santos suffered an injury and was forced to pull out. A second chance was given to him to fight in the Season 5 tournament but was unable to leave Brazil in time therefore missing his opportunity yet again and was replaced by Zak Jensen.  At Bellator 53 Santos was given yet another shot. Thiago faced Josh Burns to determine the heavyweight reserve fighter. Santos won the fight with a first round submission. (more…)
