Ultimate Fighter
The consensus around the DOM offices is that the “new & improved” TUF format is not all that impressive.
I was pretty excited for the live fight format but it has yet to wow me. (You know something is off when you prefer to watch the live fighting with the TV on mute!)
The worst part about my current disappointment with the new formatting is that the fighting has been pretty great. There have been quick, hard, & powerful knockouts with some bouts that went to a judge’s decision.
The fighter’s casted for this season are legit & have absolutely brought their game. Last week’s episode featured a knockout fight with a local favorite, James Vick. Coach Faber thought he had picked an easy win for his team but Vick took down his opponent, Daron Cruickshank, with a hard knee to the head. Vick was aiming for a high kick but Cruickshank ducked low enough to catch the knee.
I will be watching again this week, but I’m still apprehensive about the boring fights. In my opinion, the lack of good-quality commentary is really hurting this season! Maybe Anik is the problem? Maybe the added time for edits & cuts being taken away is causing the rift?
Anyway I seem to look at it, the quality of fighters is being shadowed by the lack of appeal with the “new & improved” FOX formatting.I am pretty bummed about it all…but hopefully tonight will turn things around.
