With Tate vs. Rousey and Alves vs. Kampmann; it is a full mma weekend

tate vs rousey

My poor wife, she was so happy football was over and we were going to be able to go out to eat and have a date night. I haven’t told her yet, but it won’t be this weekend.

With a full weekend of mma, and fight cards full of must see fights, it will be a wings and pizza weekend again.

UFC starts tonight with their live show from Sydney, Australia. The entire card is great, but I am most looking forward to McGee vs. Philippou, and of course the headliners Alves vs. Kampmann. After some problems in the past Alves has finally met weight for a fight, but he will take on a tough opponent in Kampmann who owns a victory over current UFC champ Carlos Condit. These are going to be some big fights, but UFC might get overshadowed this weekend.

Showtime hosts Strikeforce Saturday night with the much hyped battle between Miesha Tate and Ronda Rousey. Rousey has made herself the Chael Sonnen of Strikeforce with some of her recent interviews, but she takes on a tough ground and pounder in Tate. Rousey has not had an opponent that lasted more than 57 seconds, but it is not likely the case this time with her and Tate in the cage.

It is going to be an exciting weekend, and I can’t wait. Check back here next week for a discussion on this weekend’s results.
